The morning routine that actually changes your day

May 30, 2026 · 5 min read

The internet sold you that a good morning means waking up at 4am, meditating for an hour and jumping into an ice bath. Lie. The best morning routine is the one you can repeat EVERY day without hating it. How you start sets the rest of the day: win the morning, win the day.

1. Don't touch your phone for the first 20 minutes

Grabbing your phone the moment you wake hands your attention to notifications and other people's stress before the day is even yours. Those first minutes decide what enters your head. Keep it far away (ideally it was your alarm across the room).

2. Three simple anchors

  • Light: open the curtain or step outside a minute. It switches off sleep.
  • Water: a glass when you get up; you wake up dehydrated.
  • Movement: 5 minutes —stretch, walk, squats—. It's not a workout, it's an ignition.

3. One important thing before the world wakes up

Do your most important task (or the one you avoid most) early, when your willpower is full. If you leave it for “later”, the day fills with other people's urgencies and it never comes. Moving ONE thing that matters before 9am changes how you feel the rest of the day.

4. Do it at the same time

The magic isn't in WHAT you do, it's in making it automatic. Same time, same steps, every day. When it stops being a decision and becomes autopilot, you've stopped spending willpower on it.

The problem is never designing the perfect routine: it's running it on the Tuesday you wake up with zero drive. A coach that texts you “up, here's today” —and calls if you stayed in bed— turns your ideal routine into your real one. That's what Cero Excusas does.
